Drexel, Barrell & Co. provided civil design, survey and entitlement services for the new Fountain Middle School to consist of an approximate 155,000 s.f. two-story building on the existing Middle School site in Fountain, CO. The facility is located on a space restricted site that involves challenging grading and drainage design issues in addition to the typical site infrastructure and utility design. The scope included a new regulation artificial turf softball field to replace a natural turf field that was holding surface runoff in addition to design plans for the reconstruction of a large parking lot and associated drive aisles that were experiencing both surface and groundwater drainage issues with significant degradation of the paved surfaces. Drainage design resolutions included detailed re-grading of the sites, design of retaining walls and the design of surface and subsurface stormwater collection, discharge and infiltration systems. Scope of work encompassed all elements of civil site design to include drainage, grading and utilities.
