Field Surveyor
Colorado Springs Office
Drexel, Barrell & Co., a premier civil engineering and land surveying consultant, serving Colorado since 1949, seeks qualified applicants in our Colorado Springs Office for:
Field Surveyor -- Position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in performing ALTA's, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking and calculations. Experience with GPS, robotics and conventional survey technologies and techniques required. Requires a valid driver's license and good driving record. Excellent and competitive wages depending on experience. Having passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying exam and having a working knowledge of AutoCad are a plus.

Water Resources Engineer
Drexel, Barrell & Company has been serving Colorado communities for over 70 years. We have an immediate opening for an ambitious Water Resources engineer. This position offers the ability to work either in the office (Lafayette) or remotely if necessary. The position requires a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a CO PE license, and 8 or more years of progressive experience in public sector with water resources engineering. The following knowledge and skills are desired.
Knowledge and Skills
- Rational Method and Unit Hydrology methods for calculating runoff
- Water quality, inlet/spread, and detention calculations
- Riverine hydraulic analysis, including floodway and scour analyses
- Bridge and culvert analysis and design
- Floodplain and floodway mapping in both CAD and GIS
- Temporary and permanent erosion control and stormwater management
- Floodplain permitting for no-rise certifications
- FEMA CLOMR and LOMR submittals
- Scope and fee preparation for proposals
- Support role in design plan preparation, specifications, and cost estimating
Models and Programs
- CAD and GIS
- HEC-HMS, SWMM, Peak FQ, StreamStats
- HY-8, Culvert Master, Flow Master, Hydraflow (in CAD)
- GeoHecRas, HEC-RAS
Attributes
- Report preparation experience and good technical writing skills
- Self-motivated and efficient with task and project completion
- Works well with engineers, surveyors, and technicians in multiple groups
- Ability to coordinate with various private, local, state, and federal entities on projects, as well as other consultants and subconsultants
- Good time and task management skills
